Our group focuses on manufacturing and materials science to develop sustainable solutions toward plastic circular economy. We develop industrial relevant manufacturing methods to upcycle commodity plastics to value-added products, while unlocking their potential to address environmental threats. We also employ a suite of advanced characterization techniques such as X-ray, neutron and single-molecule fluorescence microscopy to reveal critical fundamental insights in polymer physics, including chain dynamics, nanostructures, and interfacial assembly behaviors.
Current topics of interests include: a) Advanced optical characterization b) Plastic recycling and environmental remediation c) Functional porous materials d) Additive manufacturing
